This new electric bike is rolling out soon from the French company, Matra Sports, who in its earlier incarnation was a car design firm and a Formula One racing player in the 60’s and 70’s. They now make funky electric and hybrid vehicles.

The new MS1 looks kinda familiar to Wavecrest Tidalforce owners in the United States. That’s because the Wavecrest motor technology was licensed to Matra. The MS1 will be available in spring 2008 in Europe and will run you around over five grand US. This bike is said to have a non-pedaled range of 62 miles and a governed top speed of 28mph.
This looks very much like the old Tidalforce electric bikes but uglier and uneccessarily flashy. Features include regenerative disc brakes and a battery storage above the rear wheel, it’s 9 speed, has an aluminum frame, dashboard electronics and alarm systems.
